UhAI, meaning "Life" in Swahili, exists to improve and save lives using Artificial Intelligence. This is our story, our mission, and the philosophy that drives everything we build.
Why We Exist
Every great company begins with a reason. UhAI Intelligence was founded not only to advance Artificial Intelligence in healthcare, but to honor a legacy of love, hope and compassion, inspired by the memory of Peter Madeleke Carst's mother, Clara. It carries the belief that technology should improve lives, restore hope, and make quality healthcare accessible to everyone. Every innovation we create is a step toward that vision.
UhAI Intelligence was founded on a simple, urgent observation: across Africa, brilliant doctors, nurses and researchers are working with fragmented tools, disconnected records, and limited access to advanced diagnostics, while patients pay the price in delayed diagnosis and preventable complications.
We believed Artificial Intelligence, applied responsibly and rigorously, could close that gap. Not by replacing healthcare professionals, but by amplifying them: giving doctors faster insight, giving patients clearer guidance, and giving health systems the connective tissue they have always lacked.
That belief became UhAI Intelligence: Uhai, meaning "Life" in Swahili. Our motto, "From Code to Cure," captures the entire journey: from the first line of code we write, to the moment it improves a real human life.
UhAI Intelligence is a technology and research company at heart: we apply Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and Bioinformatics to real-world challenges, starting with healthcare, and extending to agriculture, neuroscience and environmental science, wherever intelligent data analysis can improve life outcomes.
Today, the uhAI Healthcare Platform, connecting patients, doctors, laboratories, pharmacies and hospitals into one place, is our single product. But UhAI as a company is bigger than any one product: we exist to serve African people specifically, which is why every model we build is trained on African datasets, for African healthcare realities, not adapted from data collected elsewhere.

The Idea Takes Shape
Peter Madeleke Carst begins researching how Artificial Intelligence could address diagnostic delays and fragmented care systems across Africa, laying the groundwork for UhAI Intelligence.
He saw African people suffer while trying to get healthcare, worn down by the long distance to healthcare services and the difficulty of reaching healthcare professionals. So he decided to develop the uhAI healthcare platform, connecting all healthcare services in one place.
UhAI Intelligence Is Born
UhAI Intelligence is founded with a clear motto, "From Code to Cure," and begins building its first products: Clara AI, the AI Symptom Checker, and PneumoScan.
Early Pilots & Platform Development
The uhAI Healthcare Platform enters development, connecting appointments, records, laboratories and pharmacies, alongside early pilot conversations with healthcare partners.
