An Engineer on a Mission to Save Lives
Peter Madeleke Carst founded UhAI Intelligence with a singular conviction: that Artificial Intelligence, applied with scientific rigor and human compassion, can transform the trajectory of healthcare across Africa.
That conviction is personal before it is professional. Peter built UhAI Intelligence in memory of his mother, Clara, whose name the company carries in spirit, Uhai meaning "Life" in Swahili. Her memory instilled in him the belief that technology should improve lives, restore hope, and make quality healthcare accessible to everyone, and that belief has shaped every decision he has made as Founder & CEO since.
Drawn to the intersection of engineering and medicine, Peter saw African people struggling to get healthcare, worn down by the long distance to healthcare services and the difficulty of reaching healthcare professionals. He built UhAI Intelligence, and the uhAI Healthcare Platform, to close that gap and connect every part of the care journey in one place. Under his leadership, the platform is UhAI's one product today, with Clara AI and the AI Symptom Checker built on top of it, and PneumoScan being developed inside it as an early-stage capability, each engineered to bring diagnostic intelligence closer to the people who need it most.
As Founder & CEO, Peter sets UhAI's technical direction and long-term vision, while championing a company culture built on integrity, compassion, and scientific excellence. He believes the next generation of world-changing health technology will come from Africa, built specifically for African people, and has committed his career to proving it.
